Yesterday we had Shop Cleanup and I'm not allowed to push a broom anymore so I got a flatcar and rounded up , emptied and re bagged al the dust bins , then went home and swept my driveway , suited up and did a hot oil & filter change on my pickup , by the time I was finished I barely had the energy to drive out to Car Night and say hello to the folks , look at some fine old vinage cars before toddling on home and passing out by 8:30 PM .

Take care of your body , it's the ony one you get and NO SPARE PARTS dangit  .

At least I was happy to be working .

Believe me Nate, I hear you! I hate the vision thing the most. Threading that bolt for the brake peddle s-u-c-k-e-d. I know there was I time I could have done that without a thought. (Hear me Brian?)
When my brother died in his sleep at an early age, (43) I decided I would take care of this body to the best of my ability. I can't do squat about my eyesight, however. :(
Glad you were able to get after it, however. THAT kind of tired is the best in the world, IMO.

    Nate,
...(Beatles)...When I'm 64...da, da, da... Well, that's all I remember right now, but it will come to me, eventually. When my truck was 64, I used to tell all these yuts with the either big beef or the super hot...that they will be super lucky for their vehicle to be around even 15 years much less 64...and my truck was increasing in value, anyway to me.

I have kinda taken that to heart...I am happy to be traveling slower, steady(sometimes), seeing(maybe not details) the countryside, "da, da, da...when I can't remember all of the words to songs(only oldies on AM if it is around), but enjoying life...Oh, am I talking about my 48 or me??? Well, both...
Yes, I do get tired sooner...at times 8:30 seems like I used to feel at 5:00 am, but some where I heard that all of the aches and pains, creakes and squeaks are telling me that both me and the 48 are alive!

Some wise old guy once said..."It's 40's technology don't fight it, work with it and enjoy it and you will be happy."...Oh, there it goes again...not remembering...that was you, Nate!

I have taken that to heart and check the water, oil, adjustments....etc. often...and enjoy the sweet sounds my truck puts out...Don't fight 40's technology...or your year of technology...Life is a pain, but wonderful!

Oh, my truck's tappets(which reminds me...I have to...) no longer hum to the beat of "When I'm 64." It turned 65, so now I am really lost. Where's that restroom? ........and the beat goes on...and the beat goes on, on, on....

Well, Like I Always say, sometimes, 'Getting Old is a lot easier when you consider the alternative'. Don't ya' think? I am, however Extremely Luck, though, that I really have very minor health issues. I count those blessings often. I wish you all 'Good Health, and Happiness'.

Yeah I hear ya:) I just turned 30 this year, and can't believe the time has flown so far. And for what I am told it doesn't slow down anytime soon!

Nate I went to bed at 8:30 last night too;) Much after 9PM and I'm done now...

    Thank you all !

I thought I could count on some broad shoulders for my whining  .

I still roll out of bed @ 04:30 7 days the week , SWMBO says that's why I tucker out by 8:00 PM or so  .

I never complain about my old tech vehicles , I like 'em and one or two are rather faster than you'd imagine .

I'm so sorry to hear about loosing your brother , all my siblings (I'm the 'baby' of 6) are still going strong , I do worry about losing then .

I'm *very* lucky to be alive at this point and my blood pressure and heart rate are both low , that's a plus .

Every day I wake up , is yet one more gift in my dubiously blessed life so far .

    Next step : GRAND DAUGHTER !! :D .

Grand daughter! Oh I can just see you wrapped around her lil finger!

Sorry I can't relate much here, but I know that I will someday! Just so ya know there are a few of us here that really appreciate all your generations wisdom and experience. I am so grateful to glean even the smallest bit from people like you! That are willing and able to share those life lessons that by the way are the most valuable way to learn, at least I think so!

    Happier Now

As Penny Darlene Hall came into this old world 3/26 @ 6:04 and she's healthy and happy .

I sat there in the chair holding this 20" long , 6# tiny delicate bundle as she slept , watching the various expressions flit across her angelic face .
She has four different smiles that I can identify .

Mother & Father are both well pleased and yes , she already stole my heart away :) .

I can die happy now .

As Damon said, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Just don't die now! We need you!
You expressed a miracle, however. Such a small face, but yet so capable of such expression~ A miracle, no? ;)

    A Miracle Indeed !

As we were sitting there in the spanking new high tech Huntington Memorial Hospital (where by my Son & his Wife were born) I commented : you know , there's all this <magical> modern medicinal equipment but in the end , you two made and delivered your precious baby , the same way Nature has done for the millenium....

Simple and effective ,non ? .

Just holding her in my hands is amazing .

sorry to here you are ailing. at 56 i am helping the drug companies by using a handful a day. i still find puttering on my old 52 theraputic but getting down and back up is not as easy as it once was. i second that a person really should look after themselves as much as possible before age catches up. i really appreciate the knowledge that only the guys that have been around for a while can give. hang in there.

    Thank you all !

I'da thought they'd give her Jr's Mom's name even though she's worked hard to alienate Michelle  .

I don't mind not having my name in there , she has my last name in any case .

I told Michelle when she married my Son " he's all yours now ~ I'm here for anything you need but I won't be butting in " and I meant that .

Penny's ever so cute , I was just sitting there holding her @ 6# as she slept and I watched the various emotions flitting across her tiny angelic face .

So far I've identified four different smiles while she's sleeping :) .

This looks to be a fun thing beginning , aches & pains be damned .

I'm still old & broken but I can die happy now ;) .

    Getting old ain't so bad

Ya I have reached the age where something new hurts every morning not to mention the stuff that hurts all the time...but...Grandkids make everything better. Spring break (I don't remember having those) was two weeks ago and all four of them made it to Nana and Papy's house each one of them got to spend two days with us. Nate hold that little girl as long as you can they grow up faster then the kids did. Only difference is you can spoil them rotten. It's your job, your duty and because you have earned the right it's your pleasure so enjoy!!!
