    So I had a local guy got ahold of me, he has a 1/2 ton front axle for sale (would save me 3 hours of driving), but he isn't sure what year its from. He thought maybe a 1955. Can anyone identify if this will work for my '52? Axle, spindles, draglink, tie rod, etc.

    Is it near enough you could go take some measurements off of it? That may help us identify it easier.

    Yeah Damon, I am going to look at it tomorrow (about 20 mins away). Gonna take the tape measure and verneer caliper. After posting the question, I realized that Sid has the measurements on his site. If it is the right one, will be bringing it home tomorrow.

    Looks about right~ The only thing that is throwing me is the drag link. It looks a bit short, but everything else looks good.
    Hope it works for you!

    Task Force Front Axle

    IIRC ;

    The springs are wider on the T.F. than on your AD ~

    Measure the spring pads very carefully .

    The vastly improved Bendix brakes are pretty much a direct bolt on , you may need to drill out two holes slightly larger .

    FWIW , here in Sunny So. Cal. I have a mangled 1959 1/2 ton front axle with complete brakes on it ~ the axle and tie rods are bent (it was a farm truck) but , I'll give it to anyone who needs the Bendix brakes....

    A heavy sonofagun lemme tell ya ! .

    Good luck!

    The 1/2 ton axle swap is a sweet thing for these 8 luggers. So many possibilities! :cool:

    Looks like Chad is on his way here right now to dig through our pile of axles.

    I hope he can find what he needs.

    Well luckily... we found a nice complete 1/2 ton axle on top of the pile with a minimum of digging.

    Will be interesting to see the finished product after Chad sends it out to be dropped & he ads the disc brakes to it.
