    Vent/louvers on passenger side cowling

I plan on putting vintage air in my truck so I won't be using the stock heater. I'm going to put a cover plate over the heater hole on the inside so there's no need for the vent on the outside and was wondering if anyone has or thought about cutting it out and making it smooth?

I have thought about it when I do my metal work.....who knows when that might be.

That sounds like a great idea, I have really never noticed if any of the customs did that, thanks for the idea.

I think that we do this probably more than 75% of the time. Rather than spend hours on slicking out the welded on patch we just upholster the panel. Sometimes radio speakers are wanted in the kick panels and they look nice on top of the upholstery. Here is a 49 we did several years ago and it has the kick panels matching the floor carpet; others match the door or cab interior. This truck uses the throttle and choke cable holes with one light which blinks for both the r&l signal and the other for a high beam indicator. Also has a "Frenched" well in the dash to let a modern radio have a flat surface to mount to rather than being a big bump on a curved surface. The a/c-heat unit is an old Vintique unit which was a great set up for an AD but they are out of business now.

I'm a dummy, just re-read your post and see you are talking about the OUTSIDE vent.

If I had a nickel for every time I read something wrong I'd be a rich man. Lol That's what I want to do to the inside carpet Down below so no metal is showing. Looks great.:)

Here's a great site to stimulate the juices!

If you ever wondered if anyone has ever done this, look through this site. It is a pictures only site and has provided countless hours of entertainment to many. Enjoy! http://www.flickr.com/groups/advanceddesign/

For the INSIDE panel, there's a 'heater delete plate' on ebay right now. Just ebay search on 'heater delete plate'.
