My 57' does not have a armrest on the passenger side. Should there be one or is it a preference? There are no pre-drilled holes in panel either. I am researching manuals and literature also.
Do You have an Armrest for the Drivers Side? Some Trucks Came with out Armrest's and also FWIW,you had to Order Passenger side Sun Visor also, It was an Upgrade Item. Never seen a truck tho with just one armrest on the Driver side? if that is what you have? it would be a first that i ever Heard of! I have door panels on my 59 stepside that were never drilled for armrest's and my 58 Cameo does have armrest's Funny how things were allot, WELL, should i say, simpler back then! Good Luck with Your Truck! Allen
My '57 GMC came to me with only a driver's side arm rest. The threaded holes for the arm rest are in place in the passenger's door. You just need to drill 2 holes thru the trim panel. Our host sells the arm rests. Same part either side.
drilling holes for armrest My passenger door did not have an arm rest, the new one came with a paper overlay that is used to determine the exact position of the holes to drill. Gerald in Florida
Funny how no two trucks are alike. I guess that's why I love the individuality. The only reason I would add the passenger side arm rest is to keep the passenger from closing door with window crank or door latch. Thx again for all your help..
arm rest My truck didn't have any when I got it a month ago but I got a lmc truck magazine for it and they had arm rests for it they had been removed from the truck at some point in time but my new ones lined up with the preexisting holes in the door
Armrest Well I installed two stock armrest however my seat will not flip forward unless the doors are open, WTH. LOL. I guess they are to far back? Or is this standard?
Think Plural... doors Steve, Is your seat stock? One thing you could do is modify the seat hinge point on the drivers side seat back by moving it up higher. If you do this the seat will tilt away from the passenger side door when the seat back is tilted forward..... if that makes sense to ya. Hope that helps
Stock Seat Please, LOL give me a little credit, that's like when I was in my teens I can't reach the radio with my seatbelt on, LOL. But really; I think I have the seat adjusted all the way back, all stock seat and the arm rest were installed in accordance with the directions for locations. I was just wondering if that's the way it was originally. Because in the old days the jack and fuel tank were the only things stored there. Or the option of that shelf.
I have noticed that my seat catches a little on my arm rests too but its not bad enough to where I can't fold it forward the arm rests do help keep the back of the seat from folding back on me though
