Thanks All! I just put a new Chrome Bumper and Grill on my 64 C-10 but the bumper is off center. 3/4 inch gap on right and 0 inch on the left. Next semi-warm day here I will take it back off and "adjust" the holes. It's so much fun when it is 24 deg in the garage.

Is the problem due to the new bumper, or due to bumper brackets? I've read a lot of posts where the aftermarket bumpers are piss poor when it comes to thickness and quality.

I am going to measure the old and new to see if any difference.

Are these bumpers new....? I always thought they were just recycled used bumpers replated down south over the border....! At least mine looked that way..!

Looks new but it's in the 20's yesterday and today so not getting much done. Chilly

Bumper Fun

99 % of the time it's the brackets that are at fault .

Me , I always re use original bumpers & brackets , get the bumper re chromed as necessary then test fit and dress the brackets to suit ~ they're very malleable , you just need to pay close attention when you're bending them .

My current Shop Truck has the original painted bumpers on it , I'm pretty sure I'll keep them thata way and re paint the rear step bumper white to balance the looks .

IT's on but 0" clearance on left side. I am on the last 30 days of my pacemaker and almost get tired thinking about it. Good old Medicare makes you wait till the last minute before replacing it. I'm carrying "Jumper Cables" around! LOL

vwnate 1; I got the grill & bumper from the Truck/Car Shop in Orange, CA
Price was good ($140.) for bumper. I thought about re-chrome but went with new. I now have 2 sets FT & R bumpers and 2 Grills. One set is factory off white. $305. for Grill w/Headlight Bezels. looks better but I'm afraid to drive with bumper touching fender. I Seem to have gotten OFF Topic!

John if it were me I`d pull the bumper back off and start measuring the brackets as they are before loosening the brackets, then loosen them and see if either side will move forward/backward...

Why not simply measure the difference, left to right, then add shims to the brackets to move the bumper so it will be centered?

I will try all suggestions but it is -14? here and will be like this until friday so I don't think I will be getting much done. Drives me crazy, all these ideas and can't try them!

Go easy , no need to fall in the snow , I hated working on rusty equipments on the farm when I were a lad .

I have the same issue with my 64, new bumper and grill and they sure don't fit like the old stock ones. I think it is the stamping of the bumpers and the aftermarket stuff just isn't made to the same accuracy as the original.
