Anyone give me some suggestions for a nice looking tire (preferable tall) for a 1954 1/2 ton with 15 inch rims. Thanks kks
And is 75 the tallest tire I can get with a 15 inch rim? I had a nice set of 215/85/16 lines up, but realized my rims are 15 inch.
" Tall " Tires If you peruse the tire catalogs , most of them will have the diameter listed ~ the trick is to get a big diameter without getting a wide tread.... tricky in 15" tires but do-able if you take your time and work at it . Remember : this is a big , HEAVY old thing so even if you're building it strictly for Hobby use , you still need LT (Light Truck) tires to keep things safe ! .
Thank for the response, radials should be what Im looking for right? can you guide me in the right direction for tire catalogs? This is not a show truck, but one I plan on driving once a week, pick up mulch, etc.
Diamondback Tire Catalog Clci here to request a printed catalog : http://www.dbtires.com/request_catalog.html Not cheap but worth every penny ! I had my wide white wall LT radials on my '49 for over 40,000 hard miles and they wore like iron and handled great in addition to working like rented mules . If you're planning to ever carry children or SWMBO , these make sense .
coilover, whats the brand and type of tire you have on the truck? Im really liking the way that looks
Here is my tire thread. Seem to have a lot of these popping up these days. Enjoy! https://talk.classicparts.com/showthread.php?t=11532
