I replaced my fuel sending unit today along with installing a new 12volt gauge that I purchased thru our host..not having a issue, but just a question.
is my old sending unit missing the brass float, or is this the way the older Chevys came
    thanks

I'd say the float is missing~ It's been a while since I've seen mine, but I would say it snaps into the hook.

Zig is correct. I've seen both brass and plastic floats. They are barrel shaped with a pinched in area that the arm snaps onto.

Thanks for the replies, I guess now I'll have to remove the tank to see if it is in there

It's prolly floating 'round in the tank .

Whilst you have the sender out , go to your local Brand 'F' Dealer and get the fuel intake sock they sell , there's two , one os longer than t'other and is the one you want , small intake screens are bad as they clog easily and cause low fuel flow , always a bad thing .

You can easily make a nice one out of metal window screen mesh if you're handy .
