Well I took my driveshaft to the shop today to be shortened. It was almost dark when I got back home but the urge to put it in was overwhelming so I hastily installed it and under the cover of darkness,thank God for street lights, I drove it down the street!! (note to self.. will drive better when the transmission is full of fluid) I would have gone farther but I didn't have the headlights hooked up. Man what a blast! Finally after over two years it moved (and stops) under its own power!! The were plenty of things that I noticed that have to be done, mainly figure out why it wants to die when in gear, but boy do I feel great. Can't wait till morning to start tweeking!
Now we're talking! Glad to hear that the "maiden voyage" didn't turn out like the "Titanic" Us kids never know when to say when, do we? To hell with proper lighting, we can feel our way thru this! I'm proud for you. That first shake down run is always something to remember!! Ken

Now I feel bad that I've derailed my "truck time" to build a garage before I continue with mine... 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other... Coming soon! I will soon. I have lots of bugs to work out first. I took it out again this morning for about a 1/2 mile. It's not legal yet and I don't want to see blue flashing lights in my rear view mirror!!
sweet glad that you got to drive her mine is getting near that point to im picking up a set of rims monday then all i need to so is install all my brake parts get tires and it ready to rock congrats man
Brings back memories! Great to hear you can cruise it around the block and better yet you didn't have to push it home It will be a day you remember!!!! It was a year ago Christmass morning that my son and I took my truck around the block, hot wired, and only the cab. We're still talking about it! Good luck, now the real fun starts!
