Ok I'm past the point of no return, I cut out the windshield rubber and pulled the glass out and have some rust and a couple of small (pin)holes on the bottom of the frame in the channel the glass rest in. I'm not a welder, don't know a welder and not sure what I can do to clean it up. The channels look like they have plenty of meat on them and the top and sides are in pretty good shape. What are my options, bondo? Any help/guidance would be appreciated. Freezing in Vermont. Dave

A product called allmetal would work, kinda like JB weld and Bondo had a kid. Grind out all the rust , then you can fill and shape the allmetal.

    Windshield frame

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. Is it readily available at an auto supply store?

Eastwood carries it. Pretty sure there are a lot of other places as well.

Bondo makes a "plastic metal" that comes in a tube like a spot putty or glaze and hardens "like metal". I can not speak for it's long term durability, but I have used it before on a few pin holes and it does make a rock hard repair, that can be drilled and sanded. It is dark grey when dry. That's really all I can say about it, as I am NOT a body repair man. No idea how it handles paint.
