Hello, my name is Mike and I have been surreptitiously using your expertise for several years now, first, with a 54 1/2 ton, and now my 52. I figure it's time to coHme out of the shadows and share with others if that's okay. When i started back, oh 16 or 17 years ago, I was building some of my own patch panels that I could not find, like the inner cab corners. Then about 10 years ago the 52 came to me as a genuine barn find. The previous owner had dropped in a old 327 and 4 speed, new paint job, new wheels and tires from Les Schwab, then drove it into his fathers barn, covered it with a plastic tarp, and it sat for 10 years until i acquired it. Brakes locked up, clutch frozen, rat nests everywhere, brand new bed wood all stained from the rat hotel on it. I'll try to post some pictures. The truck still wears the same paint and wheels that were on it, though I dropped it about 3 inches all around and added rear bumper and roll pan. I just completed the installation of the 69 camaro fuel tank, restained the bed, and installed new Flowmasters while the bed wood was out.

    Welcome!

Sure is a beautiful truck... the roll pan really looks nice, ties everything together and adds a finished look.

Is Les Schwab related to Earl Schieb? Paint still looks good! ;)

    Thanks for posting!

    John

Very Nice! Thanks for the photos.
IMO, you get first prize for cleanest and best under frame tank install.
Cleanest, best filler location I've seen so far!
I'll probably be bugging you for more details about it in the future.

    Greetings,

Welcome to the message boards. Very cool truck. Do you happen to know what the seat is from?

the seat is a leather rear seat out of a gmc safari van. it has a fold down console, and almost bolted in with a couple of homemade front brackets using the original seat slider.

    VERY Nice !

I especially like the hidden fuel filler as so few seem to understand the importance of easy access .

    Beautiful truck, John!!!

    Awesome idea on the tank!

Hey, if you have the time, could you post a picture that shows the way the seat meets the old seat mount? (Just a lower picture of the seat than the one you posted?)
    Thanks, and WELCOME!
