From what I can tell 1/2 Ton's (3100) and 3/4 Ton (3600) used different sized hubcaps. (with 1 Ton - 3800 sharing the same caps as the 3600). Does anyone know the dimensions and actual measured difference? I'm considering new caps for my '47 3600, but am looking at switching wheels to the 8-bolt steel dexstar's that Wolf used on his GMC. Just trying to understand which will fit better (and keep costs down - as 1/2 ton caps seem easier and less expensive to come by) Thanks - Arin
I used 3/4 ton hub caps for my truck with those dexstar rims. I waited to get my new ones for a while I got them at Jim Carters. They had a sale that got me to purchase them. I don't think the 1/2 ton ones will fit it. You will have some issues with the depth of them for sure to clear the hubs let alone the diameter. I did have to add that small ring on the rear rims to clear the rear axle hubs.
Thanks Wolf, I did pickup a set of the Dexstar wheels ($52 each new) and will be mounting clips for future hubcaps. I have two old caps (faded & dented) that I can use for clip placement & spacing, but will keep my eyes open for a deal on 4 new (3/4 Ton) ones.
