Sorry for the bad picture and what might be a stupid question. The truck last ran in 2000 and was converted to 12v, I'm assuming that it's an alternator but not sure how to test. One of the previous owners did the 12v conversion and there are a lot of unterminated wires, under the dash is a mess. There is also a resistor on the firewall if that makes a difference. I'm pretty sure the dash doesn't work.

    thanks,
    bob

How to tell if it's a 6 or 12 volt?

Thanks Gary, I guess I'll try to unbolt it and see if it turns. Is there a way to tell if it's a 12 or 6 volt generator?

Truck Status - hasn't run in 14 years and ran pretty bad back then.

Brakes are done and I have a firm pedal.
    Electrical next,
Then rebuild carb and check fuel
Then drop the oil pan and see what's there.

then try to start, shouldn't be too long. I've been ordering parts from the host and starting to enjoy working with my hands again.

    Gen or Alt?

Any tags on that thing? Red Delco tag is 12v and Black is 6 volt if I recall.
