New member bringing 1951 old navy back from the grave. I am looking for cab specs and measurements. Cab looked like it only needed floors and cowl work. purchased new floors/firewall and cowl. Now it looks like a lot more work and like I should have found another cab. With the money invested so far I need to go forward. I don't mind the work or purchasing parts but I am not confident enough to install without some real measurements to work from. I am looking for the width of the door post at he bottom where the post's meet the floor. I am sure I will need more but this is just a start.
    Thank's
    Mike

I measured mine... At the centerline of the lower hinge bolt, 4 9/16" from the edge of floor to the 'step' where the door weatherstrip contacts when door is closed. Hope this helps. I looked in my '47-54 Factory Assembly Manual, but couldn't find the dimension. Bill B.

Thanks for the info. It will help when setting up to weld in the door post as the bottoms are all gone. I'll post some pictures as I move forward with the rebuild.

I have an old navy truck just like you have and I welded in a new floor . in order to figure out were everything goes i welded some pipes from the fire wall to the back of the cab inside the cab then welded some other odds and ends like bed frame angle stock down to the old floor with bolt holes drilled inn them. The bolt holes in the angle stock line up with the bolt hoes that are still remaining in the old rotted floor . this gave the cab stability when i cut the old floor out and also provided a jig to hold the new floor in place while I welded it . Some of my truck was so rusted that the cab mounting holes were gone . I found about a 10 pound glob glob of Bondo where the floor meets the inside kick panel . Things are starting to look a lot better now.

Thanks for the help everyone. I am discovering that it may be likely there is no real hard information available for the measurements I am looking for. I did find a very similar situation posted (old red) with great pics and documentary. I have been waiting for parts to arrive so I have moved on to installing the T.C.I. independent front suspension. I have also started on the independent rear suspension. More to follow.
