Hello there. I am new to this forum. But I recently got a 1966 custom camper and am having some trouble with the VIN number info. The VIN is C2546Z149331. Any help with that would be awesome. This is a truck that has been in my family since new and now I got it. I am super excited about it and can't wait to get it running again and driving. I will see if I can figure out how to get picture of it. Thanks for the help.

Thank you very much for that break down. I have been looking all over to find that info. Obviously I had trouble. Again I am very thankful for that info. Hey by chance do you know how many custom camper's that made in that year?

I will see what pictures that I can post.

    Stepside 9,905
    Fleetside 55,855
    Stake 1,499

John`s right no stats, but the custom camper appeared in `65, telltale signs if the badges were`nt there were eightlug full floating rear axle, overload or helper springs, trans either were the sm465 four speed or the th`400 trans first year it was out, either the 292 six or high torque 283 or 327 in `66.

Thank you for the information. It's all becoming clear to me know. Sometimes I am just a little slow. But as soon as I can get done working and get home, I will get some pictures up of the truck. Really hoping to get it to driving shape with in a couple of weeks!!!

That's good information..... It means the '65 I just dismantled was a camper special. It had the helper springs (which I though was odd) and the rear dock bumper slid out to accommodate the camper.... Just from the bumper I thought it was but the spring info confirms it.....
