I have finally rounded up a new seat for my '52. The slides under my current seat don't, slide that is. I have not tried to remove and service them yet, but I have looked for replacements with no luck at our host's web site as well as Brother's and LMC. Anyone know where replacements can be had?? This is the seat. I have a 6'7" friend who has installed this same kind of seat (but not leather) in his '54. I measures 2.5" more room from the dash to the bottom of the seat back in his. My fat 6'5" body could use the extra room.
I don't think the original sliders will be very stable under that seat. Better off using the 55-59 suburban front seat sliders. The mounting brackets on them will provide much more stability than the originals. I have a set if you want them....
I'll consider that DZT. It'll be a couple of weeks before I get the seat and the time to fool with it.
What is it? Hi Bill, What seat is that? I'm assuming some kind of mini van but which one, what year and what row seat? How wide does it measure? Thanks, Andy
It is a 2nd/3rd row seat from a 95-05 Chevy Astro/GMC Safari van. Most were bench seats (like this bench ). Some were fabric with fold down center section with cup holders (like this seat ) and a few were leather like this one. I don't remember the exact measurements, but I'll post them once I pick up the seat. It is currently in the St. Louis. A friend from the OldGMCtrucks forum has offered to bring it back to the Dallas area when he returns from St. Louis next week. I'll do a road trip from Houston to Dallas to pick it up. Bilbo has offered to ride shotgun on that trip. Great bunch of guys and gals in the old truck community.
seat Yes, I remember a while back you mentioning that you were looking for such a seat. Glad you finally found it. I wound up putting a seat from an early 80's Monte Carlo in mine. Nice bench seat that is soooo much more comfortable than the stock seat.
