    My old 2001 computer is getting so cranky I think I had better get the pictures stored in it to a better place. I put about 100 out of a total of maybe 400 onto a disc and it was very slow going. Would it be better or quicker to put them onto a flash drive. I was very retarded with XP and this new windows 8 hasn't made me any smarter so any help will be much appreciated.
    Thank you;
    Evan

    I store everything on a flash drive per my IT guy. Flash drive is easier to store not particularly light sensitive and doesn't scratch. I'm not a tech nor computer savy. I'm sure someone else will weigh in.

    Good luck!

    Print off a copy of the really good ones. Not everybody wants to sit in front of a screen. Buy an external hard drive. You can get terabytes of storage for next to nothing. Back up everything there. I would make another copy on DVD's.

    If you have a terrabyte hard drive crash, you lose a terrabyte of whatever you had on it.

    Flash drives are getting pretty cheap. Get more than one, and make more than one copy. LABEL and keep in a safe place. (also, make sure you COPY files over, not MOVE). If you have a glitch in moving instead of copying, things can get real complicated real fast.

    Also, for those wrestling with Windows 8, get a start button on windows 8 that works more like you are accustomed to, you can get "Start 8" from Stardock Systems.

    http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/

    It's $4.99, and it should be on sale for $3.99 till 2 December.
