I posted in the engine section but very little traffic there so maybe someone can help me on this one. I was pre-adjusting a 235 engine valves before installation and noticed the oil feed tube doesn't look anything like a 216 I have. It may be broken I don't know or maybe it's made this way. The valves all look like they have been getting good oil so maybe it's just that I,m not all that familiar with the 235 internals and the manual didn't show a good pic.

    Right On

I guess that's the way it's supposed to be then. It's a 55 engine. It has the straight little post type like your picture. Thanks for the clarification.:)

My engine is from a '55 as well, and curiously, it has the tube that circles over the top. Additionally, there is what is apparently a factory 'hole' on the inside of the arch... I know this isn't much help, but that's what my engine has. I don't think it will make much difference, though.

    Gonna go With It

I guess it will be okay as it was running before and the valves all have oil on them so when I get it running I'll check the oil flow and see how it goes. I'll watch the thread and see if anyone else has a similar situation. I pulled the valve cover on my other engine and it's like Bilbo's so go figure.

    Valve Train Oiling

Someone cut the tube and pinched it shut .

The over the top tube was to prevent too much oil from spraying out of loose & wobbly worn out rockers and getting sucked past the intake valves .

I'd not worry about this one bit .

    Tube or Tubeless?

Tubby, yes I was trying to get them pre-adjusted (cold) before the engine is installed. I know they will have to be redone but I wanted to make sure I had a head start and that the distributor was indexed correctly.

Nate: Thanks. I probably don't have a problem anyway looking at the inside of the valve cover. It's obviously been running that way awhile judging from the build up. All the springs were oiled up real good so I figure it's pumping out okay but I'll check it when I get it running.

    Thanx Tubby ! .

I am pleased to see that not only I think you cannot possibly have too much oil in the rockerbox :D .
