Bore Size ~ What Engine Wolfgang ; I'll go out on a limb here and guess this is a 235 ? . Someone ought to have a shop manual to look up the size you've provided . Have you measured the cylinder's taper from bottom to just below the ride around the top ? . If it's less than .-14" , no need to bore in unless there's longitudal gooves in it .
Re-bore limit for 235 ? According to this post over at "The Stovebolt" 3.656 is acceptable, so based on your numbers above you'd be good to go. Re-bore limit for 235 ?
Wolfgang don't base you decision to buy the block based on my post alone. I am no expert on this subject, simply just trying to help. There is a lot more to checking out the condition of an engine block than checking bore diameters. I am sure others will reply here and give you more advise on how to proceed.
Sounds like you've got an engine block... Are all the pieces there? Are you SURE? Much better off buying a complete running engine, even if needs to be rebuilt, than one in pieces. If you must buy pieces, and want input, post pics!
Hello, I have a rebuild engine in my truck. But what I saw as by driving, there's a crack which is leaking cooling water in the block. Complete engines you get here in Germany not so often, so it was a fortune to get offered a block. I got send photos which show that the block is'nt a pretty bad one. Of course I will drive and have a look at the part. Now I know where I have to look. I'd asked about the sizes of the cylinders because my engine have the third oversize in cylinder holes. So my interessed was to ask, have the block enough material so that I can let him put to the size of my engine block.
