Wood Bed

Should I sand & stain my wood then put lacquar on.

 

Sand, Stain, clear coat, sand some more, clear coat, sand some more, clear coat, sand some more...

very informative site. I have actually been thinking of finishing mine in black like original. The guy I bought the truck project from bought a yellow pine kit so it isn't like I would be painting walnut. Any comments?
