I recently purchased one of the 5000 RPM tachometer conversion kits for my 65 Chevy truck. It gets installed in the open original gauge area on the right side. Here is the question. The directions show that the brown wire from the tach should go to the negative side of the coil. I have a HEI distributor on my 502 crate motor. On the top of the distributor where the coil is, it is marked TACH and BATT. Will it work if I connect it where it is marked TACH? Sounds stupid, I know, but I am seeing differing stories about the installation.

    Factory Bezel Tach

    FYI,
I finally hooked up the factory tach conversion with the HEI distributor. Seems like it is working fine. Looks great.:D

65Monster, What conversion kit did you use. I have a 72 with a 383 stroker and HEI and I need it to work with my original tach. Did you use a filter?
    Thanks
    Craig
