Got a 61 Chevy and have a two wire alternator and I'm trying to wire the original ammeter gauge up to work. Is this even possible? I've looked everywhere that I can think. I have an aftermarket voltmeter, but I want it BACK to original. Any info would be great!!!!

    Ammeter

IIRC those used a " shunt " typ of ammeter , google it and see ~ you'll have to add a wire or shunt to make it work .

IMO you're far better off with a volt meter , it tells you more of what's going on .

Yea I like the voltmeter too but I'm trying to keep the truck original as possible. Thanks for the info. I'll look it up.

    Gauge Choices

There are now a few places that'll convert your old (worthless) shunt typ ammeter to a factory looking voltmeter....

Do whatever *you* prefer , you're footing the bill and it'll work O.K. no matter what because it's an Old CHEVROLET Truck .

Yes , I really do believe that .
