Well, actually 65 since I didn't start working on cars till I was 13. For all those years every time I drilled through cloth, carpet, padding, etc. the material would wrap around the drill ("bit" to you non-machinists) and one would have to reverse it to get untangled. When putting seat belts in my 37 Buick one has to drill through cloth and padding on both the front and rear of the seat back which is from side to side one piece of cloth covered sheet metal. Since it is only about 18g I decided to use a step drill and nothing wrapped up; wonderful. I happy there were still a few unused brain cells left to learn something new.
Go to know~ Next time I have to do this, I'll give it a whirl. It is no fun to see carpet come twisting up the bit.
