    Searched the various threads and looking for confirmation on engine identity. The numbers on the engine are
    Con3. J37. Sn is either FI009j or maybe F1009j. Not sure which
    The batch number is 3738307 which I understand makes it a 1958 235 truck engine. What I am confused by is the J37 number by the starter that I believe means it was built in October 3 in 57?
    See my confusion. Also the head sn is 3835913. Not what year it is

    By October 57 they were already selling 58 model cars and trucks.

    Like Bill said....
    By Oct. 1957 this engine was rolling off the line
    in a new 1958 truck.

    J37 = date the block was cast.
    A couple of days later engine was built.

    F1009J = when & where the engine was built.

    F = Flint
    1009 = Oct 09
    J = Truck
