Hello everybody after I've done plenty of research, I'm a bit confused on some conflicting information via different websites. So I have a 235 in my 1953 1/2 ton with block number LAQI30625, CON3 C23 and serial number 3701481. My research dates it to a 1953 block but 4 of the 5 websites show that the serial number shows it as a 1954. C23 would be March 2, 1953, Right? The block number shows the engine was originally equipped with a powerglide transmission (a real problem when trying to install a three speed to the back of the crank with the pilot bearing/bushing hole being smaller than a standard block crank). Also during the rebuild of the engine there were stamps inside the block that stated "53" by the pistons holes, and when putting in the rod bearings the bearings for a 53 block didn't work and had to purchase 54 bearings to line up the holes on the piston rods? Now my head number shows 3701887 which I found is a 1953 as well. Any feedback is well appreciated. Thank you.
That's a thing of beauty! Nice work! Sorry I can't help you with the #s. Ken's50 used to jump all over these kinds of questions.
