Looking for expert advise. I have a 235 recently obtained out of a 1962 Chevy Nova. I plan to have the engine rebuilt with the necessary modifications to match my front motor mount for my 51, 3100 pickup. Does the bolt patern on my 51 bell housing match up to the newer 235 block? If not, any suggestions?

    Greetings:

Sorry it took so long to reply. I don't usually check this thread, only the '47-54 one. So to answer your question-yes. The bell housing bolt patterns were identical from the introduction of the 216 through the end of the 235 run in 1962. Now, I'm not sure about the clutch and flywheel.

Chevy Duty has a great forum and there is a lot of excellent help here. To supplement it, you might try the following:

    www.inliners.org
    www.stovebolt.com

These sites have great discussion boards too, and some different people to lend a hand or give a differing opinion.

Good luck with the '51. That's my personal favorite.:)
