It's been five long (or has the time flown by as I get older?) years since starting the restoration of my 1953 Chevy 5-window 3100 truck. I purchased the truck from the family that bought it brand new. It was manufactured at the old Leeds plant in Kansas City, MO 62 years ago. Now it has a new lease on life. Here's a photo of the truck taken yesterday at the Midwest Nationals hosted by Classic Parts in Riverside, MO. The weather was beautiful and many beautiful (and at times unusual) trucks on parade. Many many thanks to all who helped with advice through the restoration project. It's the vehicles that bring us together. It's the people that keep us here. Best, Tony in KC
Wow, as you finish a 53 originally built in kc, I just bought a 53 made in the same plant as my first truck project. Doubt it will turn out as beautiful as yours did, but i'll give it a shot. Is the 3100 emblem on side of hood what they originally came on it and no Chevrolet emblem on top of that 3100? mine was missing them but I have patina replacements. Just need to know what was original. Thanks, Jeff
Nice JOB! Tony, Thanks for posting the pics. They give all us restoration/restomod/repair in-process guys something to look forward to.
Beautiful truck! If you would like, send me some more pictures at social@classicparts.com so i can share it on our blog.
