Happy Fall everyone! I am in the midst of putting Connecticut house to sleep, as we are snowbirds and head to Florida next week. I have a 100 gal compressor tank. I know to drain any moisture/condensate from the tank. Should I depressurize the tank also? Thanks, Denis
Our production shop has a large compressor that has an automatic purge valve on the tank. If yours doesn't, drain your tank and purge all your lines. Once you have done that depressurizing isn't critical except for peace of mind.Cut the power and enjoy sunny Florida. Dave.
We drain our compressors daily and sometimes the drain valve is frozen but no sweat since the very small amount of liquid in the tanks (one 80g, one 100g) cannot possibly expand enough to rupture the tank. However, water standing in the tank can cause corrosion so for long term draining is the way to go I'm sure. Our 80g compressor sets outside in a boxed in enclosure so it's temp is whatever the ambient temperature is. It starts turning real slow on a 20* day.
