Deve has rearranged his site. Hot valve lash procedure is now here. My question is COLD, as in prepping to fire a fresh rebuilt (or long stored) motor. Life got in the way of getting the old GMC running again, but I had a quick look at the valve lash by turning it over a quarter turn at a time on the stand. Cylinder Intake Exhaust 1 18 22 2 20 25 3 10 24 4 16 41 5 20 23 6 16 28 Is that close enough to let it fly and then adjust them hot, or what should I be targeting cold? Thanks, y'all.
After doing a valve job on my 228 two years ago, I set intakes to 0.012" cold (not running) and exhaust to 0.020" cold. After starting and warming up, I reset to those same values. After a tank of gas, I hot adjusted once again to the same values. Worked for me.
