The distance from the drive gear to the tang that engages the oil pump looks too long to me.

Actually it is a tad too short. Thousands have been used in 235's but the hold down flange has to be turned off on a lathe and then a Speedway distributor clamp used. The very end of the tang will go in the oil pump shaft groove but not deep enough. The Speedway hold down clamps are on sale right now (listed for 216-261 HEI) for $7.99. It is what I use on my 37 Buick straight 8 because I take long trips and can get parts over the counter at any parts store. Note the old coil is still in place since I also carry a points AND Pertronix with me. Also electric and mechanical fuel pumps and a water pump. Old Buick must weigh 4000 pounds on a trip.

    Thanks Evan,

I'll just go with a Pertronics or Mallory unit in my stock dizzy and carry an extra module and set of points with me too.
