A mideastern guy hit one of my customers 52 5W on an S10 chassis causing major damage. The guys insurance is liability only and one of those where for $45 you get a card to show to a law officer. It's worthless it seems but Ron has a policy with Allstate who told him to have it repaired, they would foot the bill and then sue the other ten dollar a week outfit to recover the money. Ron drives his truck 80 miles every single day five days a week to work and back for five years now so regular antique insurance is off the table. The message is if you put a lot of miles on your truck have it insured with a major well known company.

I called Hagerty insurance and was very disappointed to find out on average they only like to see there customers drive 2500 miles a year. I told them I wanted to make a daily driver out of mine and thought I would drive about 8000 a year and they said they could not insure me. I called my agent about insuring and he said the problem with normal insurance is they will not cover a classic truck for what it's worth and would not pay out the amount it would take to fix a custom truck! So how do you insure something that's worth 40 or 50 grand as a daily driver?

I bet if you kept track of your mileage, you'd find it really isn't much over 2 thousand or so. The classic car insurers want to know you have a "primary" modern vehicle in the driveway. The classic is for "pleasure use" only.
