I'm an absolute nut on brake line or fuel line flares and have finally, Finally, FINALLY got one that does the job right. I hate getting one all plumbed in and then have a leak. Have a stack of discarded flaring tools ranging from the best Imperial at sixty bucks to a Fedhil I ordered from England for 400 bucks before they were for sale in the U.S. The latter has been copied by Eastwood and others. Very suspicious of claims by now but tool man let me use the latest hydraulic one for 90 days before making up my mind to buy. Sucker will make every flare known to man plus several that haven't been invented yet AND perfect. Just ruined a grand so not for most home shops and at nearly eighty years old I'll never see it recoup cost but it put me in such a good mood that my WIFE insisted on paying for it. A great tool for free---life is good.
Andy, It's a Mastercool. They have several grades and the basic model is probably in many ones budget. We got the top of the line and also the swaging and expanding tools since we have a use for each.
Thank you Evan. Found a set for about $250.00. Got a birthday coming up. Lol. I'm with you. I have had a whole bunch of flare tools and they all suck. I have used my friends hydraulic tool in the past and love it.
I do have this tool since about two years and very happy with it. It does, what it is supposed to do, you even can flare on the car/truck, if you damage a line, you can´t take off the vehicle.. KS-Tools does sell it, and it´s around 200$. I use Cunifer lines on my vehicles, easy to bend, rust proof and just a tad more expensive, than steel. I can recommend these.
Thanx for the heads up Evan ! . I know the pain of diligently forming and installing a steel tube then having the flare leak . Maybe it's this outfit ? : http://www.mastercool.com/product-category/automotive-products/flaring-tools/ They make A/C flaring tools too .
