    Hello,
I Have two engine blocks with following numbers:
    GM 3837004 CON 3A194
    [IMG]

    GM383 5911 CONV1 B27557
    [IMG]

My question is, the upper engine block is a 235 cui block, and what kind of block ist the lower one?
If you look on the front side you see differences holes. I know the both holes at the top of the upper block are for the water pump. Is it true that the big hole in the middle of the lower one is also for the water pump?

    CON 3A194
Block was cast on January 19 1954

CONV1 B27557 {appears to be too many characters for the date cast code}.
Block was cast on Febuary 27 in either 1955 or 1957

The top picture is clearly a 1954 ONLY 235 block.

The bottom picture is clearly a 1955-1962 235 block.

    Thanks for your answer!
And another question, can use all parts of the block CON 3A194 to block B27557, I mean the crankshaft, the camshaft, the rockearms , the cylinder head, oil pump and the gear box 4 speed was on my truck?
If I install block B27557 I need another water pump, like this:
    Product Detail
If I use this pump, where is the pulley?

I think you have your numbers wrong. Your first (upper) photo is 3835911 - A194. Your second (lower) photo is 3837004 - B2755 or B2757. There should also be some letters & numbers on the flat area, just to the rear of the distributor. They are stamped into the block, not raised, so you will have to clean off the dirt to see them.

Check the numbers and post. A photo is helpful.

The block with the big hole is 3837004.
The pulley for water pump 55-11132 is on your old water pump. Use the old pulley.

This is the Google translation from English to German.
    Is the translation correct?
