I'm considering the installation of the Steering Stabilizer Kit, part#76-991 on my 1951 3600. Can anyone speak to their experience with this product? Effectiveness? Ease of installation?

I think I still have the one that came still in the box when I bought my 52 150 GMC (3/4 ton like yours). You are welcome to it for the price of the ride. In my opinion, the best that these "stabilizers" do is to try to cover up other wear problems in your steering and you'd be better off fixing those problems. My 150 tracks straight and true down the highway at 70 MPH.

.... and welcome to the forum. When you get some spare time, post some pictures of your ride.

Oops. Thanks Bill. New front leaf springs going on next week. I'll see what problems that fixes and go from there. Good advice and thank you.

Many don't put new spring eye bushings in at the rear of the springs and this will cause bad wander since the whole axle can shift back and forth. King pins, tie rod and drag link ends, shackles and bushings, and maybe a caster shim will make the truck track straight. 330mph dragsters run straight axles. Steering stabilizers are great for an off road or rough road trucks as they dampen the shock transferred to the steering wheel and take away some of the "whip" or thumb breaker action.

As Bill said. My GMC (former 3/4 ton) rolls down the road just great. Nothing but stock steering. Well, I did replace the front springs with 2" dropped springs from Eaton. I also put a half ton axle up front so I could install 6 lug disc brakes, and I can't tell you how much I love the way my truck rides or comes to a stop.
I also love the old fashioned "power steering by Armstrong". It's just like a truck like these should ride.

BTW, we are waiting for more photos of your truck. If that's your engine, the rest o the truck should look FANTASTIC!

It's that awesome looking spin on oil filter system and the PCV that caught your eye right Zig? Nevermind he has the HEI mod Bill reviewed too. Helps that he lives right down the road! A very nice 261 engine indeed. The truck is just beautiful. More Pics!

New front leaf springs/bushings mounted last week. Solved most of wandering, but new bushings needed on rear leafs as well. Did not solve the "lean" of 1" to driver's side, so more adjustment needed. Any thoughts in that regard would be appreciated. Spring/axle shop noted a slight twist in the frame which may be the culprit. At least it tracks straight and holds the road much better now. I started an album of recent work completed.
