I was going to do some basic clean-up/paint on the oil pan and replace the gasket on my 57 pickup (235 6cly) . Someone told me that you couldn't get it out without lifting the engine? Is that correct or was he thinking of a car? Obviously I will rethink doing this if it actually involves engine removal or repositioning.
    Thanks,

No problem removing the oil pan on a pickup. I have done it many times. Not that I am happy about it, but it is not difficult to do. You should remove the flywheel cover and that little flat cover to make it easier, but no problem really. Of course this is all relative! I have a Tip of the Week that explains how to refresh your insert bearings to get your oil pressure back to normal and how to change out the rubber two piece rear main on my Forum site. Good luck!
