I have been saying I was near the eight decade mark recently and on Friday the 13th (fittingly) it became official. Had about a 100 former and present customers show up along with a couple dozen family and friends. Had no idea anything was in the works so was in shop making window moldings for my 34 Chevy coupe and dressed in my grubbies when people started arriving. Later found most were going to drive their rides we had worked on but weather was nasty. The 4' x 12' welding table was 100% covered with food and deserts and 3' x 10' work bench covered with presents. Felt very gratified for the affection shown and it was worth the eighty year wait.
Congrats Evan. Keep the shop going another 20 years or so and then consider retiring. I'm 10 years behind you.
Happy Birthday, Evan. The "mile marker" is not as important as the fact you have many friends who love you, and you are still doing things that interest, you. THAT is truly a BLESSING! Steve.
Evan, Happy (belated) Birthday! Eighty years old and still doing what you enjoy... how wonderful is that? Reminds me of my Dad. He'll be 79 in a few months, and he still works in his shop as often as possible. How ELSE is his '11 (that's NINETEEN ELEVEN) Hupmobile going to get finished? Enjoy!
