just did a restomod on a 53 still have old style door latches. Back in the 80's had a 49 remember doors coming open when going around sharp turns. I wan to put power bare claw latches but I don't know what brand is best . Can any one make my mind up with experience in doing this.

Many of us have installed bear claw latches from Altman. I don't know if they offer a power option, but I'll bet forum member Russ Petty (Ol' Chebby) knows.

My 34 Chevy coupe has power bear claws with a ROD from latch to solenoid. Made up from scratch with salvage yard parts so don't know if available in kit form. I stressed the actuator rod because the cable ones tend to get out of adjustment. I often put the latch in the door pillar and the striker pin on the door so an emergency release cable can be easily run out the bottom of the stationary pillar and not a swinging door. Here are pics of my fabricated ones in each style ( keeping in mind that the Altman's are tidier). The pillar mount in the tan truck has the mountings but latch and striker pin are removed for painting. Red truck is the conventional way to mount.
