I'm working on an '86 Gmc 3/4 ton High Sierra which originally had the diesel engine. Someone along the way changed over to a 197? gasoline powered 350. I'm needing to purchase a new power steering pump, but the concept of wrong engine in truck & "threaded tapered shaft with keyway" seems to be too much for the local autoparts store "pros" to grasp! I've already driven too many miles to find out the "pros" didn't know the difference between threaded tapered shaft with keyway and straight shaft. So, When was the change made???
