I have a '61 235 with a T-5 transmission in my '50 Chevy truck. I want to put a small block Chevy engine in it and was wondering if the bell housing that I'm using with the 235 will work with the small block engine. Any and all input/advice is appreciated. Thanks!

No, the 235 bell housing will not work with the small block. Side mounting the v8, and using the t5 tail housing mount with a universal crossmember would be one way to accomplish the swap. It will be tempting to remove the current bellhousing crossmember to free up room for the swap. If you still have the stock front suspension the bellhosing crossmember provides some reinforcement at the leaf spring mounting point and shouldn't be removed.
