im using an 87 truck box as a trailer i bought a t-connecter for my 85 that im driving which has white, brown, green, yellow wires on it i also bought the trailer connecter with the same color wires, but the truck box im usuing as a trailer has (2) green, brown, yellow wires. how should the wiring on the box trailer be wired so it matches the connecter for the truck and do i ground the white wire to the box trailer box or the frame and how should the extra green wire be used for if anything?
If i'm not mistaken some trucks used the second green wire for the reverse lights. The color code would be yellow-left turn, green-right turn,brown-park, and the white is ground. The best way to check and make sure the wires are right is to take a battery and test leads and hook the wires up on the trailer one by one and check them. As for the white wire on the trailer as long as the lights are bright and not bleeding over on each other you should be able to just hook it up on the frame and make sure the lights are grounded good at the sockets. Ground problems are probably 90% of electrical problems.
