When I overhauled the door hinges on my '52 five years ago I lubricated the new hinge pins. Lately the driver's side door has started squeaking when you swing it open or closed. No mention of how to lube the hinges in either the body (includes doors) or lubrication sections of the Maintenance Manual. Can't see the hinge pins using a flashlight. I guess I could just bomb the whole area with lube and hope for the best.

    How do you do it?

The shotgun approach is what I use. There isn't a square inch of the 6,000 square foot shop floor that is a virgin but if you have something pristine it would be wise to blast it in an area where dripping oil isn't a problem. I use 50wt motorcycle oil with the theory in mind that it might be a bit more "clingy" than 10wt. Maybe chain lube would last even longer.

All 1947-1955.1 door hinge castings have a pre-drilled hole allowing for the application of penetrating lubricant deep into the hinge & hinge pin area.
