Well, the whole motor is odd - a 1953 block, with a 54 235 head. The head was removed awhile back, and I was getting everything "rounded up" to work on it. I noticed one of the head bolts is :"shaved" length-wise. I have no idea which hole it came out of, nor do I know the reason it has been shaved down. Anyone have a clue???

I'm a GMC guy, and it has been many decades since I've had a 235 apart, so please verify this with a manual or someone who knows for sure. I think the funny bolt goes in the center hole on the distributor side of the head. It would be bolt # 1 in this head bolt tightening sequence, [IMG]

Well, that would make sense! I was leaning toward that one, myself! Thanks!
