Anyone aware if someone has tried to replace the mechanical gauge with electric gauge insides using the same gauge face? Thinking about trying it using a 56/57 electric temp gauge and sender or even a newer one that may fit and can be mounted to the original 54 truck temp gauge face.
If you can find the gauge from a Chevy / GMC 'Dubble Duti' P-Van it'll fit your original gauge cluster and if you find a 1955 ~ 1964 one, it'll be 12 volts stock.... Good luck hunting, if Bill or others help you find the correct part # it should be dirt cheap N.O.S. on The Bay Of E .
