Any body running the 235 engine with a TH 350 tranny ? If so what rear gearing are you using and are you happy with it?

A 3.73 is a good gear for an overdrive transmission but too deep for your 350 trans. Since you have a 350 automatic you must have a non torque tube rear end so something around 3.08 for just cruising or 3.36 for light hauling. These are GM ratios where 3.00 or 3.25 are Ford ratios. Our host and Dead Zone Truck Parts have 3.56 gears to fit your rear end. If you go to a TF (55-59) rear end they have 3.38 gears offered. Something with a torque converter can handle more shallow gears. The 216 oil filters were dealer installed and not necessary for modern paved roads. The bright orange Fram with a black top was pretty though.

Hey, thanks for the reply’s. This for the 57 which as you point out has the open drive line. I am leaning toward the 3.38 gears as both our host and Dead Zone offer them. I just need to find a reputable shop to install them as my understanding this is not a DIY job. Dave
