Need help identifying the differential in my 51 3100. Reason is I am having trouble find the correct emergency brake cables. It occurred to me that I might have a Ford differential? Appreciate the help, Haasman
What is the wheel bolt pattern on the axles. Five on a 4.5 inch bolt circle is Ford or Chrysler, five on 4.75 bolt circle is early mid size GM, five on five is big GM cars and GM pickups, five on 5.5 Ford pickup and of course six lug can be early Chevy pickups and all sorts of 4wd, modern SUV's, foreign pickups, etc. As a GUESS it looks like a 55-64 Chevy car or a pre 57 Ford car but could be a Chrysler. Leaning toward Chrysler but more detailed info would dial it in.
Bolt circle is easy on your 6 bolt wheels. It is the distance between the centers of opposite bolts. Harder to do with an odd number of bolts.
In the last picture the distance from center of one lug to the other across the axel center shows 5.5". Does that identify the axel? Haasman
Cross referencing on the WWW, 5450649 is the part number for a Delco Moraine Left Rear Wheel Cylinder. It was used on lots of Chevrolet products including cars, trucks and Corvettes in the late 50s and early 60s. Given that it has 6 bolt hubs, I'd guess it is from a late 50s or early 60s Chevy truck.
