We do this to about 6 or 8 AD trucks a year so a bit more information would help for advise.
Are you leaving the straight front axle and drum brakes? If so then the early Colorado will give you drum brakes and six lug wheel bolt pattern.
If going to an IFS, which one? If drums and a 4.75 bolt pattern then an early Camaro matches up.
Many IFS units use the 4.5" Ford/ Chrysler bolt pattern so the non-IRS Explorer is a popular choice.
    P/S, P/B, A/C on the drawing board?
Full disclosure of the desired final ride would help.
