Thanx for the update Grim . If you think 5 years is a long time wait'l you have kids, if you blink they'll be grown and gone and giving you grandchildren . Good news on the new place ! . Colorado is a very nice state IMO .
My grand daughter began riding Motocycles at age 2-1/2 after my son foolishly promised her her very own Motocyle as soon as she was potty trained ~ I think he forgot that positive rewards is the best motivation but you must always be ready to follow through . I remember him asking about smoking when he was 5 Y.O. and I told him fine but only at home and only for him ~ I'd not provide his buddies . I knew what was coming and made sure to have a pack and matches right inside the front door when he came home that same week with a large retinue of school yard boys all saying "no way, prove it !" . Kids, whew . Now he teaches me about many things, the circle goes round and round .
Way to be supportive . He was asking for help not criticism . I've seen far worse rigs put back on the road .
vw, I generally ignore keyboard monkeys, I'm far too old to give a damn Lately I've been ordering parts (Mostly from our vendor here) and cleaning up the C4-Late suspension that's going under this project. It's been decided I'm going to be doing a restomod. I think I've decided on a project build name and hopefully will get some progress completed and get that promised build thread started.
Grimtas, Build your dream, naysayers be damned. Post pictures of your build. Inspire others. My build, while stalled for other, (far) more important things, is what I want out of MY truck. I look forward to hearing about yours. What's her name? In case it ever makes your wonder, if you had a home built in 1953, would you want to stay with the 60-Amp service it came with? The fuse-box? The stove- certainly not the dishwasher, because there wasn't one. The roof? Windows? Nope. Go for it.
I'm old (& cranky) too but manners are part and parcel of being a good Citizen . Whomever pays the bills gets to choose the build . My grand daughter is 6 - 1/2 and my grand son will turn 1 Sunday . I live in a 1923 house that's had an electrical upgrade but it's failing now.... I had to do the fresh and gray water pipes some years back, got rid of most of the drafty windows too .
Now , that's not very nice. I recently acquired my first project truck. I've had comments that I paid a bit too much , but - '54 Chevs don't grow on trees anymore and - most importantly - it makes me happy! The OP Grimtas wasn't asking for a gofundme page , so what's it to ya?
FWIW, some are simply *so* insecure that have to take potshots wherever they can, not grasping the simple fact that it makes them look weak and afraid .
Here's one for "cantdrivemall". Just because ones abilities are limited to a wax job or new set of tires doesn't mean others lack the skill and desire to convert an ugly duckling into a swam. The 54 Olds convertible before and after pics are NOT the worst car/truck I have done. I thrive on the comments given when they leaf through the step by step photo album. In the beginning---a bit rough: Finished ( but not to "cantdrivemall" standards I'm sure):
I knew you are talented Evan, but I'm amazed that you can turn a 4 wheel trailer into an Olds convertible.
WOW Evan ; That's lovely . I wish I still had the flexibility to do serious works . I also wish (insert the old adage of wish in one hand and....here) I had the $ to have you work on my '69 C/10 .
