Hiya Joe ! . Long time folks have been trying to put money in your pocket.... North Hollywood really is a pit (think armpit) , it was bad when I worked there decades ago @ the 170 Fwy. & Sherman Way but at the same time there used to be all those killer good junkyards and I lost track of all the fantastic eateries.... Then there's Troost Av. ~ yow .
Man I harvested a lot of truck parts outta all those salvage yards on San Fernando Road & Glenoaks Blvd back in the 7o's.................. & don't forget about the original Mother Trucker's on Van Nuys Blvd.
Oh, yeah ~ used to be scads of little junkyards right there by the Valley Steam Plant . Those were the dayze alright .
....I had to run off part way through posting that last note . I'm sure you remember HAWK Auto Parts, the VW junkyard right near the steam plant ? . They stopped being VW only long ago but still had piles of hard parts when I was sorting out my 1968 VW # 211 one ton parcel delivery van . For me, the 1970's were a very good and fun time .
Yea I spent a lot of time at Hawk back when I was into VW's....they helped me keep my 68 bug on the road for years. . Marsh Street south of Roscoe circa 1977
Hi I'm looking for an outside visor to fit my 53 Chevy 3100 that has the aftermarket 1 piece winshield as well. Can you tell me where to buy one with the adapted middle support brackets? Thanks Wayne.
DeadZone is the man you want to connect with. After years of reading a lot of shared information on this and that -when it came to finding the certain type of exterior sun visor- sun shade fulton verses ? ...etc. ..etc. I kept finding what Dead Zone had shared all over the world wide web and finaly made constact with him and -- he's the best ! On another forum -web-site he posted pictures of a center cowl arm bracket and my thought was with your new type - one piece windshield - you may have to use that type of "cowl mount" bracket because of the peaked roof on the 31oo AD.? or ? Dead Zone could tell you and show you in a split second what would or would not work.. Man knows his "stuff" !. With rules etc I didn't copy /paste the picture Dead Zone aka MotherTrucker posted on another web-site of that cowl mount bracket..... All said be patient - Dead Zone may just drop in here one day--- Again your reaching out to the Man in the Know - DeadZone Hang in there and The Best !
My given name ? uhhh My earn'ed.. name is..? Well Nate you can call me Joe... You can call me any "Old Time " LOL..... Old Fart ?```< Works good too.. hahah.. Just passing through``` `
I meant Mother Trucker's given name is Joe ~ unlike many he is not afraid to let you know whom you're dealing with .
Joe Mendola -- straight up guy with so much knowlege I considered myself " blessed" yes blessed in finally meeting him here on this site. Say it again.. it took years looking for MT-AZ -aka Mother Trucker -Dead Zone ..... and actually missed the mark with a dot here and there in " Mother.Trucker.?... I read things on other web-sites that You Nate and Joe exchanged And sometimes thought you were brothers ? LOL......... Thank You again Nate ! for telling me to be patient . It paid off in chasing down one of those little long lost dreams. (selfish one) Often it's those little things in life `Amen "Covet earnestly ( ernest? ) the best gifts ... until I show you a more excellent way ( way? )" You can call me Ernie - LOL.. I sure wish Joe would land here more often. And of course share more pictures !... Wishing Y'All the Best !....... Ernie
"Patience is a virtue" . Truer words have never been spoken . However, learning that patience caused me no end of grief . I broke a lot of things as a kid and young adult . Thank God for the internet ! . I find unobtanium parts for obscure & worthless machines all 'round the globe . Going to a vintage British Bike swap meet today to look for a chain guard for a worthless Moto I own, I love it and ride the snot out of it like all classics (and beaters too) should be .
I liked Track and Field during my high school years I was rather small compared to other athletes - And took up running the hills before my teens. Figured running Track leveled the playing field for me - LOL I won ribbons and a couple of medals and later entered an All Class- Open -Obstacle Endurance Race and was shocked at winning First Place - Woop woop. It's the only medal I have kept since then - 1966 - Endurance/ Obstacle 8 Mile Race.. At my age now I do hope to finish the race strong ( limp-limp- wink ) So many great sayings that run of of gas-- when you are faced with feeling empty-worn out-tired- hungry --- Faced with our human fragility We learn to go through troubles / trials not trying to go around -them......... And also comes the sense in going through trials ... There are others you know without meeting them... That know what "Patience is a Virtue" means.. And so we rejoice in our hardships, knowing that hardship (distress, pressure, trouble) produces patient endurance.......... Sometimes I think ? Will I become a cranky Bitter Angry Old Man ?-- And then hope-faith and love answer - ``Say What !`` Keep Running Ernie-- Gump -- LOL..
Well ; At least you're not yelling at clouds (yet) . I never cottoned to sports, my loss I think . Fall is here, I was sitting on the porch waiting for Demarkis' school ride and watching the sun come up, marveling at how clear the air is now, it used to be horrible here . Life is and remains, good .
Hello Joe Mendola, aka MT-AZ Mother Trucker - Dead Zone /deadzonetruckin.8916/ I’m looking to buy a complete & restored original Fulton 1000 sun visor for my 53 Chevy truck with the correct knuckle M1 mounts and the cast aluminum center mount for a 1 piece windshield. I know they are hard to come buy and quite expensive too. I’m willing to move fast and pay quickly as our build is almost done and I’m really impressed by this Fulton 1000 sun shield! Please contact me at wgrimet@gmail when you get a moment, big thanks!
Sunday August 4th 2022 . Why did I get a notice to this long dead thread, I come here and the message isn't even here . Are you still with us Ernest ? . We're having a HEAT WAVE it was 111* F in the shade so what was idiot Nate doing ? . Installing a new radiator to his 40 year old Mercedes Diesel taxi . Whew, I wish I was still 40 years old ! my hands got all cramped and I had to stop a few times to get cool water from the 'frigie . It's all in and buttoned up again, I replaced the weepy heater water valve at the same time, each part that came off was dirty so I'd stop and clean / de grease it & set aside to dry, even the upper radiator hose had accumulated rock hard oil on the under side of it . The engine's still not as clean as I like it but at least not wet with oil now . Supposedly this "NISSIN" brand radiator is the Bee's Knees, it has larger tubes in it and a lifetime guarantee, I hope I'll never need it . This is the third radiator, the second one was a good used OEM Mercedes one from a junkyard, they guy I bought the car from installed it when he first bought the car . Germans love biodegradable plastic ~ the upper hose nipples on OEM Mercedes radiators from the 1970's and 1980's like to go *CLICK* and snap off without warning, this car did this to me some years back when I was struggling with my broken neck, luckily I was able to remve the snapped off hose nipple and fasten the hose to the tiny bit sticking out of the radiator . I'm not sure what I did here the change the font, I like it though .
I got the notice also Nate....Not much to see here lately though. For what it's worth...If you had stuck to VW's you wouldn't have had to worry about radiators ever again.
You know Joe ; A few years back I bought what I think/hope/imagine will be my one last VW Beetle . It's a raggedy 1959 #113 in an interwsting color "champagne" , sort of poking out through the peeling $50 respray.... This car is a true P.O.C., the local kiddies all love it ~ they're desroying thier old VW's by creating fake " ! PATINA !" . Forgive them Lord, they know not what foolishness they do .
Front-- and Center ! says the natrual Patina Man- Original Rust Included ! Before I start wandering and rambling off again.. Would like to say again Wouldn't it be Great if Joe were to make a book of all his pictures ? And knowledge he obtained through the good old school of hard knocks.." Rods ? " Lifters..haha... "Spun Bearing" Ernie here. I caught a few wonderful pictures Joe had posted on Facebook when he had the CEO up for sale. The Darn Window came down before I was done peeking around. A Wall of Front AD Grills was like am Amazing Art Piece.. Well Nate I have slipped in and out here on the forum. Been busy like so many others.. And that`` Covid didn't help matters... Great to hear form you Nate and always great to have a chance to catch Joe ! Thanks again Joe for you help ! Odd how many years it took to find out who MZ was- Some of us are slow..and maybe why I like my old 53 so much- A Match Made long ago--- chug chug....haha.. Hope the Thanks ! can be heard.. ~~~ The Best ! ~~
