1950 engine colors

    I am looking for color information for the bell housing and transmission. I just cleaned mine up and they are dark green. Looks similar to the Ford Model A engine color.
    I am also getting ready to paint the engine and have the paint coming. What color is the oil pan painted?
    What are people using to paint the intake and exhaust manifolds painted and with what kind of paint?

    Hi Al ;

    The original 216 engine was gray in trucks and blue in cars....

    I thought the tranny and bell housings were black , I know Jasper and other rebuilders used green .

    Surely Evan or Joe here will know ? .

    Yes. I think Jasper used a sort of light green, almost like Detroit Diesel 2 strokes used to be.
    Remember when guys called other guys a "Jasper"? It wasn't a compliment...
