Flywheel bolt safety locks

    This is what I am looking for but I have no idea what they are called so it makes finding them tough. They are a type of lock to prevent the bolts from backing out on the flywheel of my 216.

    Does anyone know what they are called and a source to get them?

    Depending on the year of your 216, you are looking for three of one of the last two items shown below.

    These are important, I remember a pristine 1954 Chevy 3100 that knocked loudly so the owner ass-u-med it had bad bearings, a Fireman I knew paid $800 for it in the late 1970's and added red loctite, was a very happy camper .

    Maybe try " chevsof the 40's " in Washington state ? .

    They used to have lots of stuff like this .

    I think there was a different style with hydra-matic as well. Definitely a need to seal the threads well.

    These were used before LocTite was available. Use red as Nate suggested and the bolts WILL NOT back out unless heated. Think of the lock tabs as a whale oil lamp when LED's are now available

    I would use Blue if you ever want to disassemble those again. Should be plenty to keep the bolts where they belong.

    The application of heat to the bolt heads will make them easily removable .

    Loose flywheel bolts was long a problem on these engines .
