My vent lock came off in my hand the other day. I got replacement vent locks but can't figure out how to remove the old ones. I got new aftermarket locks not GM the are made of plastic and mount differently that stock so they are no help in figuring out how to remove existing 25 year old factory vent locks. I have the style with the push button lock. 1980 chevy truck c10

All you need is either a 1/16" or 1/8" straight punch and a small hammer. There is a roll pin located on the inside locking mechanism. Open the vent window if possible...with the hammer and punch, knock out the roll pin, but BE CAREFUL with the hammer. You will be hammering in close proximity to the glass. Once you knock out the pin, remove the punch, and the vent lock comes right apart.
